Vijay Mallya interested in acquiring a stake in SpiceJet
Liquor baron Vijay Mallya already owns the Kingfisher Airlines and he recently acquired a stake in the budget airline company Air Deccan.
Mallya has now hinted that he wants to acquire a stake in the Delhi-based budget carrier SpiceJet. Market sources have reported that he was interested in such a deal which could further boost his domination in the Indian aviation market.
He was quoted as saying: “I have not initiated any talks as yet. But if they want maximum shareholder value, they will look at me.”
Another news media sources quoted him: “Well, am I interested? The answer is ‘Yes’. Am I going to get it? The answer is ‘I don’t know.’”
Incidentally, other media reports have also claimed that Jet Airways is also interested in SpiceJet. However, in that case both the parties have denied any such talks.
