Nokia folding all their mobile phone development efforts into a single unit
World’s largest mobile phone maker Nokia has said that they are going to fold all its mobile phone development efforts into a single new business unit.
Nokia is trying to enhance their focus on the critical business of multimedia and Internet-enabled devices which is becoming bigger and bigger by the day.
The company added that this new division would be called the Device division and would be producing all the Nokia’s mobile devices.
Currently the company had three divisions making their mobile phones. These divisions are for mobile phones, multimedia, and enterprise solutions.
The company further said that they are creating two other new divisions, called Software & Services, and Markets.
Nokia spokeswoman Arja Suominen said on this new development: “When we introduced the [current] structure in early 2004, the market was still very voice centric at the time. The other areas were small but have grown much since then. So it makes sense to bring all these together in one unit.”
