S Gopalakrishnan is the new CEO of Infosys

Indian IT industry giants Infosys has announced that they are now appointing S Gopalakrishnan as the new CEO of the company. Gopalakrishnan happens to be one of the co-founders of Infosys Technologies.

His appointment as the new CEO of the company was approved at the shareholders at the 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the company.

He replaces Nandan M Nilekani who would now work as the new co-chairman of Infosys. The company also announced that they are appointing another co-founder S D Shibulal as the new COO of Infosys.

Infosys Chairman and Chief Mentor N R Narayana Murthy spoke at the meeting: “These transitions reinforce the efficacy of our long-term succession planning. Our success depends on our ability to manage rapid growth. We have the vital ingredients to manage growth. These, along with our strong value system, will continue to accelerate our growth.”

He added: “Our customer-centric approach and nurturing global client relationships strengthen our performance. Managing risk is an inherent part of our corporate strategy. Geographical diversification into Asia and Europe has been a cornerstone of this mitigation strategy.”
