Kingfisher Airlines places a mega order with Airbus for 50 planes

Indian airline company Kingfisher Airlines has announced that they have placed an order for 50 planes with Airbus.

A deal was signed on between UB group chairman Vijay Mallya and Airbus COO John Leahy for this order.

The market price for these planes comes to around $7.3 billion. Mallya spoke on this latest deal: “Our strategy at Kingfisher is to open new long-haul routes and expand existing ones. For example, with the A340-500 and then the A350 XWB, we will be able to offer direct routes between India and the US. The A330 will allow us to expand services to Europe and the A320s will help us meet demand in our home region.”

With this, Kingfisher Airlines along with their partner Air Deccan now has a commitment for a total of 176 Airbus aircraft.
