Chery A1 hatchback to be sold in US by Chrysler
Chrysler is going to offer a cheap Chinese made car in the US market starting next year. The company would make available the Chery A1 hatchback model in the US.
This car is likely to sell at half the price of its existing cheapest product in the US market and is likely to generate good sales from customers wanting a cheap second car for their homes.
Chrysler is taking this route to generate sales to get some market share back from Toyota and Honda which are increasingly dominating the US market.
Even GM and Ford are struggling in their home markets and are working on cheaper and fuel efficient models to enhance their sales.
Chery’s president, Yin Tongyao confirmed in a statement that Chrysler will begin selling Chery Automobile’s A1 hatchback in the first quarter of 2008. They have not officially revealed the expected price of the car for the US market.
Market sources further said that Chrysler plans to sell current and future Chery models worldwide.

About

I am very excited about the introduction of this vehicle. In research, it appears the vehicle will deliver 40+ mpg, which is comprable to the smart, Yaris and fit, but with much less cost. In the end, it should deliver a great cost/mile benefit given the fixed cost of ownership will be much lower. Hurah for Chrysler for giving us an alternative!!!!!
