Volkswagen could build another factory in the USA
German automaker Volkswagen has said that they could considering setting up another manufacturing plant in the US market if the dollar stays weak.
Volkswagen Chief Executive Martin Winterkorn was quoted as saying in a magazine: “If the dollar stays at its current level, one has to consider a factory in North America very seriously.”
Incidentally Euro is currently near an all-time high against the U.S. dollar and Japanese yen.
This makes it hard for the European automakers to compete cars made in other regions like the US itself and Japan.
Volkswagen currently has just one manufacturing plant in the North American region which is located at Puebla, Mexico.
The company has traditionally struggled in the US market but are now planning to expand their presence to enhance sales and availability.
