Toyota beat GM in terms of sales in the first six months of the year
Japanese automaker Toyota looks all set to overtake GM to become the world’s largest automaker later this year.
The company has dominated the sales in the first six months of the year.
Toyota’s first-half sales rose 8 percent to a record 4.716 million vehicles. In comparison GM’s sales gained 1.7 percent to 4.67 million vehicles.
Last year saw GM selling 9.1 million vehicles compared with Toyota’s 8.8 million.
Toyota continues to gain from impressive sales of their car in the US market. Their models like the Corolla and Camry are massive hit in this market.
Toyota also managed to take a 16.1 percent share of the U.S. market in the first six months. In comparison, GM’s share in the market fell down to 23 percent from 24.3 percent.
