Volvo Car Corp. has announced that they have now appointed as many as three dealers in India as they prepare to launch their cars in the Indian market.

Volvo would be bringing their S80 sedan and XC90 sport utility vehicle in petrol and diesel variants in India by the end of 2007.

They are aiming to have around 7-9 dealers more by the end of 2008 throughout India.

They are going to import their cars in the initial years and would be selling them through their dealerships in major cities like New Delhi, Mumbai and Chandigarh.

The company is also planning to start procuring auto components from the Indian market.

Paul de Voijs, managing director, Volvo Car India added in a statement: “If we do decide to manufacture here at a later date, then we will obviously consider manufacturing with Ford.”
