European Commission has now issued formal charges against Intel
The European Commission has now confirmed that they have issued formal charges against Intel.
These charges are related to claims that the microprocessor industry giant used illegal tactics against smaller rival Advanced Micro Devices.
The Commission said that they have spent years investigating Intel’s tactics to determine whether their activities in the EU region to deal with competition from AMD were legal or not.
Ton Van Lierop, a spokesman for the European Commission had this to say: “I can confirm the statement of objections has been sent.”
Intel has not issued a response to this latest announcement by the European Commission.
AMD had filed lawsuits against Intel in the United States, South America and other jurisdictions claiming that Intel had been using illegal tactics to drive them out of the market.
