Lenovo to invest in Mexico and India
PC manufacturer Lenovo has announced their plans to invest big in Mexico and India. The company would be investing about $30 million during the next year to build two manufacturing facilities in these two countries.
They would be setting up these new plants in Monterrey, Mexico, and Baddi, India.
Their Indian facility is expected to be ready by the third quarter of this year. The Mexico based unit would be ready to go online in the second half of 2008.
Lenovo said that these two upcoming units would help them expand their presence in the SMB (small and mid size business) market and the consumer space.
Lenovo’s Mexico based unit would become their largest manufacturing investment outside of China.
Their Indian plant would begin with limited production in September. This unit would be able to manufacture up to two million PCs annually and employ about 350 people.
