Mercedes-Benz car sales improving in India
DaimlerChrysler has said that they are seeing improved sales of their Mercedes Benz branded cars in the Indian market.
The company is now trying to improve their sales by targeting a wider base of aspirational buyers through financing schemes.
DaimlerChrysler said that sales of its premium Mercedes cars had reached almost 1,500 in the first seven months of 2007.
This is an improvement of around 22% compared to sales in 2006. This improvement is impressive considering interest on auto loans has increased a lot in the recent times.
Wilfried Aulbur, chief executive of DaimlerChrysler said in a statement: “India has had strong economic growth and we are seeing that people are beginning to indulge themselves now, rather than wait until they are older. Our experience has been that in developing, and even developed markets, a structured finance scheme like this helps expand the consumer base because an aspirational product becomes affordable.”
