Embraer believes India to become a big market for smaller planes

The boom in the Indian aviation market seems to have brought massive business for the two giants Airbus and Boeing. However, the coming times would be more favorable for the makers of smaller airplanes as per market experts.

Empresa Brasileira de Aeronautica SA is the world’s fourth-biggest aircraft maker and they believe that the Indian market can be of as big as $4 billion for orders of small planes in the next 20 years.

J. Bruce Peddle, Asia Pacific managing director for Embraer said during an interview: “India is emerging as one of the most important aviation markets in Asia. There are a lot of smaller cities in India that need greater connectivity and a smaller plane and not a full-sized aircraft is better suited.”

He is pretty right considering not every destination in India would be able to generate enough traffic to warrant the usage of a plane developed by companies like Airbus and Boeing. And considering the high prices of aviation fuel, Indian airline companies would be more than interested in purchasing smaller planes with less seating capabilities to carry passengers between smaller destinations.
