Canon India to expand marketing expenditure

Digital equipment makers Canon have said that they are going to expand their marketing budget for the Indian market. Canon said in a statement that they plan to increase its marketing spend to Rs 30 crore this year for driving marketing initiatives in the camera and the color document printing product space.

Alok Bharadwaj, Vice-President of Canon India said in a statement: “We will invest about Rs 30 crore this year as compared with Rs 20 crore in the previous year. This spend will be channelised towards marketing initiatives in the consumer camera and professional camera space, as well as the color document printing business that includes products such as color copiers and printers.”

Canon India division is expecting to improve its turnover to Rs 400 crore in 2006 compared to around Rs 306 crores last year. Much of these revenues are expected to come from the digital camera segment, which is growing fast in the domestic market.

The company is also focusing on growth in the computer printer segment with sales projected at Rs 100 crores. Canon has also announced that they have appointed ace photographer Atul Kasbekar as their brand ambassador for the Indian market.
