Vodafone wants to take total control of Vodacom
Vodafone seems to be interested in taking total control over Vodacom which is the largest mobile group in the South African market.
The company could pay up to around USD 10 billion for this deal. Vodafone owns half of the company while the rest is owned by Telkom. Telkom said in a statement that they are in early-stage talks over its future with Vodafone.
Market reports have stated that Telkom could sell its fixed-line business to MTN and sell their share in Vodacom to Vodafone.
Arun Sarin, chief executive of Vodafone has also hinted in the past that they are somewhat interested in taking the complete stake in the Vodacom.
The company has confirmed that they are in talks but have not revealed much on a potential deal.
