Test flight of Boeing 787 Dreamliner delayed
Boeing Co has announced that they are now delaying the first test flight of its new 787 Dreamliner.
The test flight is now scheduled for mid-November to mid-December. This means that the test flight has been delayed by around three months.
Boeing had to take this step as they struggling with the programming the flight control software.
The company has however clarified that they are still on track to meet its delivery target. The delayed test flight would also not affect financial forecasts.
Boeing is scheduled to deliver the first 787 to Japan’s All Nippon Airways in May next year.
Bank of America analyst Robert Stallard had this say on these developments: “The firm now faces a significant challenge meeting first delivery in May 2008 and we believe that there can be virtually no buffer room left in the test schedule from here.”
