InterDigital to provide technology for Apple iPhone

King of Prussia, Pennsylvania-based InterDigital Inc has announced that they have signed on a seven-year licensing agreement with Apple to provide their technology for their iPhone mobile device.

The company however did not reveal how much it expects from the deal. Market analysts believe that they stand to gain about $56 million over the duration of the deal.

The licensing agreement signed with Apple includes the Apple iPhone and any other mobile phone Apple would launch in the coming years.

Boenning & Scattergood analyst Michael Ciarmoli had this to say on this deal signed between Apple and InterDigital: “The deal covers various 2G and 3G cellular technologies encompassing bandwidth allocation, roaming and power efficiency controls, and most likely also includes some type of packet data coding and delivery.”
