Daimler Chrysler to set up a new plant in Pune
Daimler Chrysler has announced that they are setting up a new manufacturing plant in the city of Pune.
They would be investing close to 50 million Euros on this new plant. Wilfried Aulbur, managing director and CEO of DaimlerChrysler India said in a statement: “We have acquired 100 acres of land for the new plant which will be commissioned by 2009.”
This new plant would have a manufacturing capacity of 5,000 passenger cars annually. This would be a bit more than their existing plant in the city.
The company however managed to sell just around 1,681 units in India from January to August but they are hoping for growth in the coming years.
Daimler Chrysler is also going to assemble heavy trucks in the existing plant by year end. Next year they would start assembling luxury buses.
