Sony considering selling chip production facilities to Toshiba

Sony and Toshiba might be fighting to win the next generation storage format war but they are also partners in the development of the processor powering their Playstation 3 gaming console.

The latest report in the market is that the company is now considering selling their production facilities for advanced chips to its rival Toshiba for nearly 100 billion yen.

This would be part of their initiative to focus on their primary business of manufacturing electronic goods.

The reports added that the deal could be finalized in a couple of months. It is also said that the two companies could work together to set up a joint venture to manage the system chips lines.
