Suzuki Access 125 cc gearless scooter launched

Japanese two wheeler manufacturer Suzuki Motorcycle has announced their entry into the scooter segment by launching their first product in the Indian market.

Suzuki launched their Access 125 cc gearless scooter and they are aiming to sell around 5,000 units a month initially.

They are going to make available this new product across the nation within a period of two weeks.

Suzuki added that they are targeting achieving four per cent share of the domestic two-wheeler market in the next three years.

They are also working on launching two new two-wheeler models, including a 150 cc motorcycle, in the next one year.

Satya Sheel, Managing Director of Suzuki India said in a statement: “For 20 years we have looked at motorcycles as the sole mode of semi-urban and rural transportation. We will see a paradigm shift back to scooter market with the improvement in infrastructure.”

He added: “We plan to sell as many as 3.5 lakh units in India by 2010 which will be about four per cent of the two-wheeler market then. Presently, the company has one per cent share in the domestic market with sales of 80,000 units annually.”
