Bain Capital Partners acquiring 3Com for $2.2 billion
Computer networking company 3Com has announced that they have now decided to be acquired by Bain Capital Partners.
The deal is worth around USD 2.2 Billion and it would also give a minor stake in the company to Huawei Technologies of China.
3Com has been struggling to compete against the giants in the market including Cisco and Nortel.
However, the deal could face challenges from the US government due to involvement of a Chinese company in this acquisition.
Edgar Masri, 3Com’s president and chief executive spoke about this deal: “Going private will give us more flexibility. We will be able to focus on our long-term strategic objectives.”
