Revenues from memory cards for mobiles expected to exceed revenues from headsets

ABI Research has stated in a report that revenues generated from memory cards are soon expected to overtake revenues from mobile headsets itself.

The market research firm has predicted that shipments of removable memory cards for handsets are likely to touch $7 billion this year.

This would be much more than revenues of $5 billion expected from the mobile headset shipments.

The report further said that they predict the mobile phone accessory market to generate more than $80 million in revenue in 2012.

ABI analyst Shailendra Pandey had this to say in this report: “Now even Bluetooth headsets are being presented in-box with the handsets. Greater after market sales of memory cards versus increasing in-box sales for headsets are resulting in stronger growth and higher revenue from memory cards when compared with headsets.”
