Schneider Electric told to pay fines for patent infringement
The Wenzhou intermediate court in Zhejiang province in China has ordered in a ruling that the French electrical company Schneider Electric would have to pay fines for patent infringement to Chint Group.
Schneider has been told to pay fines of 330 million yuan in the form of compensation to the Chinese group.
The patents are related to low-voltage electrical equipment manufactured by the French electronics company.
Reports claim that this is the largest compensation awarded by a court in the country. Schneider Electric however is not happy with the ruling. A company representative said: “We absolutely disagree with this decision, it is absolutely unreasonable. Schneider Electric is a world leader in this technology, we will appeal this decision immediately to the Zhejiang high court.”
