European Union launches investigation on Qualcomm
The European Union has revealed that they have now started investigating the mobile chip company Qualcomm.
They would be investigating on whether the US based company abused their position in the market.
The EU said in a statement that the company might have violated EU competition rules by refusing to share licensing terms for its mobile phone technology.
They are giving this investigation a priority to come out with a conclusion as soon as possible.
However, it can still take as many as two years. The complaint against Qualcomm was filed by as many as six companies including Broadcom Corp., NEC Corp., Nokia Corp., LM Ericsson, Panasonic Mobile Communications and Texas Instruments Inc.
EU spokesman Jonathan Todd added in a statement: “They claim that Qualcomm is not making the necessary intellectual property rights available … on conditions that are fair, reasonable and non discriminatory.”
