Sellers on eBay not happy with ads on the site
eBay is the leading auction service on the web. The company also generate part of their revenues through online advertisements.
However, this is somewhat bothering the paying sellers on the service considering the ads are now contextual in nature.
This means that pages showing items on sale could end up displaying ads related to the same items on other sites.
This could result in the visitor on the page moving out of the website to land on some rival service. And for paying customers, this is not the favorable situation.
Jonathan Garriss, PESA’s executive director said in a statement on this issue: “Having those ads on the Web site we view as very negative. Encouraging people to leave eBay can never be good for the seller who is paying to be on the marketplace.” PESA is Professional eBay Sellers Alliance and it is a group of large eBay sellers.
