Novell announces job cuts in Provo

Software company Novell has announced that they are cutting around 200 jobs in Provo. Some of these jobs are going to be outsourced to India as part of their reorganization aimed at cutting costs.

Novell would continue to employ around 1,200 people in Provo. It was founded in this city before the headquarters were moved to Waltham, Mass., in 2004.

Company spokesperson Kevan Barney said in a statement: “This is probably the biggest single [restructuring] thing that happens this year.”

He added: “The back question that seems to linger with a lot of folks when they hear this kind of news from Novell locally is are we on the road to leaving Utah. And that is absolutely not the case. We’re very much committed to Utah.”
