BBC to cut jobs as they embrace the digital age
UK Media Company BBC has announced their plans to cut 1,800 jobs.
BBC further announced that they would now integrate its TV, radio and Internet news operations.
The aim is to compete better with the new technologies which are increasingly becoming a challenge to older media methods.
BBC would be cutting around 2500 jobs but would add new ones for content creation.
BBC Director General Mark Thompson was quoted as saying on this decision: “Media is transforming, audiences are transforming. It would be easy to say that the sheer pace of this revolution is too fast for the BBC … but I think we can see both here and around the world the price you pay for taking what looks like the safe option.”
