Spyker F1 team to be renamed Force India for next year
Vijay Mallya has announced that they are going to change the name of the Spyker Formula-1 team to Force India from next year.
He revealed the new brand name for the team at Interlagos on Saturday.
The final race of the season is scheduled for today and a new Formula-1 champion is expected to be crowned today.
Mallya said in his statement: “We have applied to the FIA for a change in name of the company and the team from Spyker to Force India. I think that sums it all up as to why I am here.”
The name change has been approved by the F1’s Chief Executive Bernie Ecclestone. However, it would still require approval from the competing teams.
Interestingly, this would be the fourth new name for this team in as many years. From Jordan to Midland to Spyker and now Force India.
