Gateway to concentrate on notebooks now
Gateway has been acquired by Acer and the company now plans to focus on launching a complete range of notebook products which are increasingly becoming popular in the market.
Gianfranco Lanci, president of Acer spoke on their plans for this division: “Gateway’s problem in the U.S. is that it mainly sells desktops, but the notebook is the fastest growing segment.”
The company expects to bring out their new range of laptops as early as the first quarter of next year.
Lanci added in his statement about the merger that the restructuring of the business would require them to spend around $30 million.
Acer had announced their decision to acquire Gateway in August this year.
