Blu-ray media outselling HD DVD media
Blu-ray DVD media is outselling HD DVD media in the market. In fact, it is outselling by a margin of almost 2-to-1.
These figures are for the first nine months of the year. However, market analysts believe that the situation can change with the upcoming movie titles coming exclusively on HD DVD media.
Home Media Research said that as per their research work, sales of Blu-ray discs totaled 2.6 million units from January 1 through Sept 30.
This is much more compared to sales of 1.4 million HD-DVD discs sold in the market in the same period.
Tom Adams, president of Adams Media Research had this to say on the market conditions: “This definitely smooths out the edge that Blu-ray had in exclusive titles and it very much strengthens HD-DVD’s hand in the fourth quarter.”
