Vijay Mallya wants Air Deccan to fly abroad
Kingfisher Airlines Chairman Vijay Mallya has said in a statement that they are now asking for permission from the Indian government to allow them to offer overseas flights through Air Deccan.
Kingfisher Airlines has acquired a controlling stake in the Indian budget airline company.
He said in a statement: “Air Deccan has sought government approval to fly overseas from next year. The company is looking for a license to start flights to Middle East, South East Asia and the US.”
Mallya has been trying to get the government to loosen up rules to allow new airline companies in the country to fly abroad.
Air Deccan would be five years old next year and it would then become eligible to ask for permissions to fly abroad.
Mallya added: “We have appointed Accenture to advise on the integration of two airlines. We will take a future course of action after a report from it in the next six weeks.”
