Infosys to invest more in Andhra Pradesh

India’s IT industry giants Infosys Technologies have announced their plans to expand their operations in the state of Andhra Pradesh. They would be establishing their second campus that would come up in 550 acres.

This expansion would see the company investing Rs 1,250 crore over the next ten years in the south Indian state. The Andhra Pradesh government signed on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Infosys and this presentation was attended by both Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and Infosys Chairman and Chief Mentor NR Narayana Murthy.

The MoU states that the government would allot the company close to around 150 acres of land in the first phase. Infosys would further be allocated another 400 acres of land in the later stages of this proposal.

Infy is planning to expand their worker base to around 25,000 with Rs 1,250 crore investments over next 10 years. Murthy said during this ceremony: “We are happy to announce our expansion in Hyderabad. Andhra Pradesh has healthy investment climate and the state government has been very supportive. We intend to invest Rs 1,250 crore to create a state of the art campus in Hyderabad. The plan is to generate employment to 25,000 software professionals over next 10 years.”
