Lenovo Group to drop IBM brand name from computers before 2010
Lenovo Group has said in a statement that they are now planning to stop using IBM brand name from their computing products before 2010.
The company believes that they are in a good position to start using their own branding on all their computing products.
Lenovo chief executive Bill Amelio was quoted as saying in a statement: “We’ll have one global brand that can be the rallying cry for the entire company.”
This Chinese company had acquired the personal computer business of IBM in 2005. They had at that time acquired the rights to use IBM brand on their products until 2010.
Lenovo said that they would rebrand IBM ThinkPads as Lenovo ThinkPads.
