Wi-Lan file lawsuits against 22 companies
Canadian wireless network provider Wi-Lan has revealed that they have filed patent related lawsuits against as many as 22 companies.
They are targeting some big names too including Apple, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, and Sony.
The company is claiming that these companies are infringing on their patents related to Wi-Fi and DSL technologies.
The patents reference numbers involved in these lawsuits are 5,282,222, RE37,802 and 5,956,323.
Wi-Lan is claiming that these companies have been making or selling products which infringed on their patented technologies.
Jim Skippen, president and chief executive of Wi-Lan had this to say on these new lawsuits: “While we prefer to resolve patent infringement through business discussions, we have consistently maintained that litigation was always a possibility when negotiations do not result in a license within a reasonable time.”
