Lebanon announces plans to privatize mobile services

Lebanon has some of the most expensive mobile service charges in the world. The government wants to fix this and has announced their plans to allow the privatization of its mobile network.

This process is expected to be complete by next year and they are hoping that it would benefit the end user with lower mobile bills.

The government bodies announced that interested applicants should submit their applications for the tender on February 1.

They plan to hold the auction in public in the presence of the media. The highest bidders for the licenses would be given the two existing mobile phone licenses.

The winning parties would be required to create a joint stock Lebanese company.
