Boeing to develop an extended version of 787 Dreamliner jet

US based airline manufacturer Boeing has said that they are going to develop bigger versions of their 787 Dreamliner jet. This is because their consumers are demanding bigger variant of this already massive airplane.

This stretched version of the 250-seat plane will seat 300 passengers and should be ready for the retail market by 2012. Boeing has received requests for such plans from aviation companies like Emirates and a dozen other airline companies.

Boeing has been traditionally reluctant to make a larger form of this plane with worries that it would hamper the sales of their older 777-200 ER jet. However, the growing demand from their customers is making them rethink their policies.

Mike Bair, general director of the 787 program said in a statement: “As time has marched on and we talked to other carriers, it’s become pretty obvious to us that the interest is more widespread than just Emirates and that’s really what has caused us to look at this opportunity more seriously.”
