eBay and PayPal sets up global development center in Chennai
Online shopping site eBay and its payment technology system PayPal have announced the launch of a new global development center in Chennai.
This new facility currently has around 1,000 employees through they plan to hire more in the coming months.
A Raja, union minister, communications and information technology spoke about eBay’s decision to base their center in Chennai: “We’re thrilled that one of the world’s most innovative and successful companies has selected Chennai as a home for its new development center eBay and PayPal provide our community with fantastic career opportunities and we look forward to the companies’ continued success and presence in the region.”
Scott Thompson, chief technology officer, PayPal added: “We’ve been extremely pleased with the early success of our Chennai development center Hundreds of talented men and women have already joined eBay and PayPal and we continue to aggressively hire to build our fantastic team in Chennai.”
