Symantec’s Centre of Innovation in Pune
Another US based software giant is expanding their operations in the Indian market. Makers of security applications Symantec is due to open their ‘Centre of Innovation’ in the city of Pune. It would be inaugurated by John Thomson, Chief Executive of Symantec.
The company is pretty popular in India for their Norton Antivirus product, which is one of the leading antivirus solutions for the windows platform. This new development hub by the company is their largest international engineering outpost and already employees around 1,500 workers.
John Thomson said in a statement on their plans for the future: “It is not enough any longer, to merely protect the information — be it a corporation’s prized intellectual property or my family photographs. We have to secure the interaction and protect the entire ‘connected’ experience.”
Symantec now faces serious threats from the world’s largest software maker Microsoft, which is entering into the security market with their subscription based service called Windows Live Care, which is currently in beta testing phase.
