Qantas orders 188 new aircrafts
Australian airline company Qantas has revealed that they have placed orders for as many as 188 new aircrafts with both Boeing and Airbus.
The company aims to expand their presence in the South East Asian market.
Qantas reported that they have placed orders for 31 narrow-bodied Boeing B737-800 aircraft and 68 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.
They have also taken options and purchase rights for an additional 89 aircraft from the two companies.
Qantas chief executive Geoff Dixon added: “This decision, together with existing A380 and B787 fleet commitments, secures an order stream for next generation aircraft that will allow the group to meet long term demand growth and replace older aircraft over the next decade.”
