Airbus to sell 160 planes to Chinese airline companies

Airbus has said that they have now signed on deals to sell around 160 passenger jets to Chinese airline companies.

This deal is worth around US$14.8 billion at market prices of the planes and it would help them move ahead of the rivals Boeing in terms of orders for this year.

This new order for Airbus includes A320 and A330 jets. Airbus incidentally is already working with China to produce A320s in China in the near future as they expect high demand for this plane in this market.

China’s dominating airline companies are Air China Ltd., China Southern Airlines Co. and China Eastern Airlines Corp. and they are all operated by the government.

Chinese airline companies had placed orders for 150 Airbus jets worth over US$9 billion last year as well.
