AT&T dialup services to cost more
AT&T has announced that they are all set to increase the prices of their dialup services. The rates are going to be increased by as much as 60 percent on Dec. 1.
In some places, dialup is now going to become expensive compared to DSL services. Looks like the company wants their dialup customers to upgrade to DSL services.
The company said that the rates are being increased to match the prices of the competing services. They have been low all this time as they are left over from previous carriers which were acquired by the company.
This is going to disappoint those customers who live in regions where DSL is not available.
Ovum analyst Mark Seery spoke on this announcement: “I think they think the people who remain on dial-up are not looking to move to broadband. Perhaps the only way to get them to move to broadband is to raise the prices.”
