McAfee to invest heavily in Indian market

Their rivals Symantec are already working on expanding their development base in the Indian market. Now McAfee has announced its decision on Wednesday to invest more than $80 million to expand its centre in India.

McAfee would be investing this money in the next four years and would also be adding as many as 400 new employees. McAfee Chairman and CEO George Samenuk credited the Indian branch responsible for the firm increasing its profitability margin to 25 per cent in 2005 compared to 13 per cent in the previous year and earning $1.15 billion in 2005.

George Samenuk said: “One of the key drivers that helped McAfee transform into a leading global security provider and achieve best-in-class profitability since 2002 is our R&D centre in India.”

Another senior company executive added: “The centre will focus on research and development of security solutions and product innovation and will take ownership of some of the key security products it creates from requirements to customer release.”
