Kangaroo online television service announced

ITV, Channel 4 and BBC have together announced their plans to launch an online television service sometime next year.

This service has been codenamed Kangaroo for the time being. This would provide an alternative to online media sharing services like YouTube.

Each of these media networks are going to take a one-third stake in the “Freeview online” venture.

They are planning to make available current and archive programming for broadcast on the web through this service.

The service would feature advertising and they are likely to be shared between the three companies.

These three companies are also inviting other media companies to submit their content for broadcasting on this new service being planned.
