Nokia estimates market growth at 15%
World’s largest maker of mobile phones Nokia has predicted that the global mobile phone market will grow 15% this year. This is due to improved sales from the growing markets in Africa and Asia.
Nokia had earlier expected the market to grow by just around 10%. Nokia added that the countries in Africa and Asia would contribute to 80% of the industry’s growth this year. However, they have not revealed how much they expect their own sales to improve this year.
The company added that they are well placed for some new innovative leaps this year. Nokia already has a 34% market share in the mobile market ahead of competitors like Motorola, Samsung, LG, and Sony Ericsson.
Nokia also added that they expect the global mobile subscriber base to reach 3 billion during 2008.
