Kodak sued over alleged compressed storage plans
An Orinda woman has apparently sued the photography industry giants Eastman Kodak Co. for firing her for unjustified reasons. She claims that the company fired her for protesting against a plan, which included compressing the images stored by their customers on their Kodak’s EasyShare Gallery without informing them of this process.
She claims that the company planned to save money by compressing the images stored on the server so that they consumed less space than the original images. Maya Raber, 41 says that she was wrongfully terminated as director of software development for Kodak’s EasyShare Gallery.
The company claims that she was terminated as a part of a restructuring process. However, the interesting part is that the process saw only one individual getting fired from the company. Kodak has also claimed that there is no truth in the statement that they planned to compress the images stored on their service to save web space.
The company has said in a statement that Raber’s accusations are completely false and they have acted in a manner that is consistent with our corporate policies and ethics.
