Microsoft acquiring Multimap online mapping company

Software giant Microsoft has announced that they are now acquiring UK based online mapping company Multimap to expand their range of services in this market.

Microsoft would be able to use the technology and resources gained from this acquisition to boost their Live range of web services.

The two companies have not disclosed the financial aspects of the deal.

Multimap specializes in providing street-level maps, travel directions and local information.

A Microsoft representative had this to say on the deal: “This acquisition will play a significant role in the future growth of our search business.”
