ReplayTV acquired by DirecTV
DirecTV has announced that they have acquired most of the assets of ReplayTV.
The financial aspects of this acquisition deal were not revealed to the media.
ReplayTV was one of the early rivals to the TiVo but struggled to compete against them as they have now become one of the dominating companies in the DVR market.
Market analysts are not sure what DirecTV wants to do with ReplayTV. Some suggests that this acquisition is to ensure protection against future patent disputes.
DirecTV said: “We consider this to be a significant portfolio in the area of DVRs and advanced DVR features.”
