Laptops are becoming popular in India
More and more people are buying notebook computers in the Indian market. They have become cheap and affordable in the recent years and people have realized the convenience of having mobile computing in their hands.
IDC India has released their latest report and it says that the laptop computer market in India grew by 84.8 per cent in the third quarter of 2007.
The sales of the laptops helped the industry which saw a growth of 25.1 per cent.
IDC further said that more than five lakh notebook PCs were sold in the quarter.
Hewlett Packard continues to remain the dominating branded computer seller in the Indian market.
Lenovo was second while Acer took the third spot. Interestingly, Dell’s aggressive marketing is yet to help them in the Indian market.
Kapil Dev Singh, Country Manager, IDC India added on this report: “Portability, rather than mobility has emerged as the `number one’ driver for the sustained growth in notebook PC shipments in India.”
