Tata Rs. 1 lakh car might become a hit amongst taxi drivers
Tata Indica is already hugely popular as a taxi cab in the Indian market. Now, market analysts are expecting that their upcoming Rs. 1 lakh car might become a huge challenger to autorickshaw manufacturers as it would become a cheaper alternative to taxi drivers.
Delhi Taximen Union general secretary Kuldeep Singh had this to say on the possibilities of using the Rs. 1 lakh car as a taxi: “Tata cars are cheap to run and affordable to own. They are easy to maintain and highly fuel-efficient, allowing low cost of operations for commercial fleet, unlike fuel-guzzlers, Ambassador and Maruti Esteem. The new micro car seems ideal for our operations provided it has enough engine power for our kind of fleet operations.”
To use this upcoming car as a taxi, they would however require the approval from the government bodies.
Tata is expected to launch both petrol and diesel edition of this car. And the diesel edition could really become a boon for the taxi industry. What it would do to our already congested roads… Only time will tell.
