IBM and Toshiba to work on next generation chip technology
Toshiba has announced that they are now joining a group headed by IBM to develop system chips using 32-nanometre circuitry.
The group includes other big names including Advanced Micro Devices, Samsung Electronics, Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing, Infineon Technologies and Freescale Semiconductor.
Incidentally, Toshiba is also separately working with NEC Electronics on 32-nanometre technology. The company said that the deal with NEC would focus on ways to mass-produce the chips.
This new group has committed to work on their project through 2010 to design, develop and produce chips using tiny circuitry.
