Dan Hesse is the new president and CEO of Sprint Nextel

Sprint Nextel has now announced that they are naming Dan Hesse as their new president and CEO.

He replaces Gary Forsee who had resigned from these positions earlier this year.

The company is somewhat struggling with the merger of the two units Sprint and Nextel. These two are based on two different mobile technologies which makes the job even more complicated.

They also face intense competition from Verizon and AT&T in the domestic market.

Hesse was earlier the chairman, president and CEO of Embarq. He has also been at similar positions at Terabeam and AT&T Wireless.
